About this stone: Green Calcite

Green calcite is a descriptive name for natural calcite (calcium carbonate, CaCO₃) with a green colour; it is a colour variety, not a separate mineral species. A translucent green calcite from Pakistan examined by a gem laboratory contained trace copper and manganese, but the sources consulted do not establish the cause of the green colour. Some green calcite is artificially dyed: Mindat records "Mexican Jade" as dyed green calcite.
