Terahertz Stone

Terahertz beads are manufactured, not mined. Monocrystalline silicon is an industrial material at the forefront of new-materials development and is used in semiconductors, solar photovoltaic power and heating applications; the beads are made from this material.

The 2022 study identified the material with standard gemmological tests, infrared spectroscopy, X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (EDXRF) and Raman spectroscopy, and found a single, uniform composition: mainly monocrystalline silicon.

Sellers market terahertz beads with claims that they emit terahertz waves and are good for the wearer's health. Professor Kawase of Nagoya University's Graduate School of Engineering, who has studied the biological effects of terahertz waves for more than 20 years, states that no one has found firm scientific evidence for such claims. According to him, genuine and fake "terahertz" goods, ordinary ceramics and rocks all emit only room-temperature black-body radiation, and the idea that this radiation cures illness is not accepted by any scientific society he knows of.
