About this stone: Charoite

Charoite is a natural purple mineral, a complex hydrated potassium-calcium-sodium silicate (with strontium, barium and manganese), named after the Chara River area in Russia. The gem material is actually a rock (charoitite) made up mostly of fibrous charoite, which gives its swirling lilac-to-violet patterns. Its only known source is the Murun Massif in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), Russia.
