About this stone: Blue Fluorite

Blue fluorite is the blue color variety of fluorite, the natural calcium fluoride mineral CaF₂. Blue crystals are less common than purple, green or yellow ones. Studies link the blue color mainly to yttrium-associated color centers (an yttrium ion paired with an anion vacancy holding electrons); Geology.com notes that trace yttrium substituting for calcium can cause it.
