About this stone: Gibeon Meteorite

Gibeon is a specific iron meteorite from Namibia, named after Gibeon, the area at the centre of its large strewn field. The Meteoritical Bulletin classifies it as an iron of chemical group IVA; it is a fine octahedrite whose etched surface shows a fine Widmanstätten pattern. Beads and jewellery cut from it are natural meteorite metal, but they are commonly plated (for example with rhodium) to slow rusting.
