About this stone: Grandidierite

Grandidierite is a rare natural magnesium-aluminium borosilicate mineral, (Mg,Fe)Al3(BO3)(SiO4)O2, with a bluish green to greenish blue color that deepens with iron content. It was described in 1902 from southern Madagascar. Most material is translucent to opaque and cut as cabochons or beads; transparent faceted stones are very rare.
