About this stone: Hematite

Hematite is an iron oxide mineral (Fe₂O₃) and the most important iron ore. Crystals are steel-grey to black with a metallic lustre, while earthy material is rust-red. Much of the "hematite" sold for jewelry is an artificially made material rather than the natural mineral.
