About this stone: London Blue Topaz

London Blue topaz is a trade name for the darker of the two dominant commercial color grades of treated blue topaz, a blue of moderate to dark tone and saturation. It is natural colorless topaz whose color was produced by irradiation; GIA's Gems & Gemology associates the London Blue color with neutron irradiation in a nuclear reactor. It is a treated natural gem, not a separate mineral or a locality.
