About this stone: Snowflake Obsidian

Snowflake obsidian is natural obsidian, a volcanic glass, containing white to gray "snowflake" patches. These are radial clusters (spherulites) of the silica mineral cristobalite that grew when parts of the glass began to crystallize (devitrification). It is untreated natural rock; Mindat also records synonyms flowering obsidian and spherulitic obsidian.
